Meryl Streep and Martin Short romance wrote a new song titled “Where Have You Been” about the on-screen romance between Meryl Streep and Martin Short’s characters, which stood out to her among the gory murders on Only Murders in the Building.

“Where Have You Been,” which was released on Friday, May 2, has Clarkson singing romantic, first-dance-worthy lyrics about discovering one’s true mate after years of looking. She stated on her SiriusXM program that the idea for the song occurred to her after watching the popular Hulu murder mystery series. “It is the face of Martin Short,” she informed the audience. “Where have you been?” he asks Meryl Streep’s character in the musical.

“He is really amazed, and I thought, ‘Has anyone written a song?'” Clarkson went on to discuss the episode that aired a day before the music was released. “Because the song makes you happy, because it is like you have discovered something that you thought did not exist, like a unicorn.”

The characters played by Short and Streep were married in a ceremony at the Arconia during the fourth season of Only Murders, which concluded in October. The two actors are reportedly dating in real life, which makes it even more adorable.

“What took so long? Where have you been? In her latest ballad, Clarkson sings, “I thought I would found you/I found out I was wrong.” “Where have you been/I nearly gave up/My light was so dim/And now here you are?”Meryl Streep and Martin Short romance

After her 2023 album Chemistry, which peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard 200, Clarkson’s first official release since then is this song. Ironically, Steve Martin, another member of Only Murders, appeared on the album. He plays the banjo in the song “I Hate Love,” where the “Stronger” singer explicitly mentions the Father of the Bride actor in the lyrics.
