Fans of NBC’s hit singing competition have something exciting to look forward to as The Voice: Battle of Champions will expand to a two-hour format for Season 29, promising more performances, more drama, and more competition than ever before.

Contents
  • Extended Episodes and Strategic Scheduling
  • A Star-Studded Coaching Lineup
  • Fresh Twists to Raise the Stakes
  • In-Season All-Star Showdowns
  • New Voting Power for Fans
  • Looking Back — and Ahead

Extended Episodes and Strategic Scheduling

NBC confirmed that when the show returns on February 23, it will air two-hour episodes at 9 p.m. ET every Monday. The new schedule gives the series a valuable advantage — the second hour will air without direct competition from ABC’s American Idol, which runs from 8–10 p.m. ET.

The programming shift also means the medical drama Brilliant Minds, starring Zachary Quinto, will temporarily step aside after already facing delays due to Winter Olympics coverage.

A Star-Studded Coaching Lineup

Season 29 will mark the highly anticipated return of original coach Adam Levine, who previously held a red chair for the first 16 seasons and again in Season 27. This time, he joins an all-star trio featuring fellow fan favorites Kelly Clarkson and John Legend.

Together, the three veteran coaches form the show’s first-ever three-coach lineup made up entirely of returning champions, setting the tone for a season built around experience and legacy.

Fresh Twists to Raise the Stakes

NBC is promising a “landmark” season with faster pacing and heightened competition. One of the major additions is a Triple Turn Competition, where coaches compete to earn the most three-chair turns during the blind auditions.

The coach who leads this category will receive a powerful Super Steal advantage in the Battle rounds — a one-time opportunity that overrides another coach’s steal attempt and guarantees the artist stays on their team.

In-Season All-Star Showdowns

The knockout rounds will introduce an exciting new feature: each coach will bring back two fan-favorite contestants from past seasons to compete in an In-Season All-Star Competition. The coach who wins the most sing-offs will secure an extra finalist in the grand finale.

Adding to the nostalgia, original coach CeeLo Green will return to judge and determine the winner of this special round.

New Voting Power for Fans

The semi-finals will begin with the Top 9 performers, eventually narrowing down to a Top 4 finale. For the first time in the show’s history, a new voting panel made up of super-fans and former Voice contestants will join the in-studio audience, casting real-time votes during both the semi-finals and the finale.

Looking Back — and Ahead

Season 28 concluded in December with coaches Snoop Dogg, Niall Horan, Reba McEntire, and Michael Bublé, and crowned Aiden Ross as the winner.

Now, with The Voice: Battle of Champions will expand to a two-hour format for Season 29, the series is aiming to deliver its most competitive and fan-driven season yet.

The Voice: Battle of Champions premieres February 23 on NBC, with new episodes airing Mondays at 9 p.m. ET and available for streaming the following day on Peacock.
