Kelly Clarkson has announced an unexpected pause in her Las Vegas residency, postponing her Studio Sessions concert series dates originally scheduled for August. The decision, shared via Instagram on Wednesday night (Aug. 6), comes in response to personal family matters that require her full attention.
“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,” Clarkson wrote in a heartfelt message to fans.
The Grammy-winning singer expressed her regret over the cancellation, stating, “I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.”
The impacted dates include performances that were set for August 8-9 and 15-16 as part of her much-anticipated Studio Sessions at PH Live inside Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.
The news comes after a series of scheduling issues for the residency. Clarkson had previously canceled the original July 4-5 kickoff weekend just 90 minutes before showtime, citing vocal strain from intense rehearsals and preparation.
“We have been working 24/7 to make Studio Sessions the most intimate and extraordinary experience with and for my incredible fans,” Clarkson shared at the time. “The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice. I want the shows to be perfect for y’all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage.”
She returned to the stage on July 11, launching the series to an enthusiastic crowd. During the opening night performance, she hinted at the possibility of a live album inspired by the residency. “We’re having a good time, as if we were literally in the studio creating a live record, which I’m going [to] sell this [as] one day,” she told the audience.
While Kelly Clarkson Delays Her August Las Vegas Residency Shows, fans can look forward to her return later this year. The residency is currently set to resume in November, with performances planned for Nov. 7-8 and 14-15.
At this time, no rescheduled dates have been announced for the postponed August shows.
