An Exclusive Interview with Nate Franchesco

Q: You’ve been called a virtuoso and a multi-instrumentalist in previous features. What does “The All-Round Technician” mean to you?

Nate: To me, it means being able to step into almost any musical situation and contribute. It’s not about showing off. It’s about understanding the language of different instruments and genres, then serving the music. Whether it’s rock, jazz, blues, classical, country, funk, techno, or cinematic work, I enjoy learning what makes each style unique.

Q: Your recent releases have ranged from guitar instrumentals to electronic tracks and cinematic pieces. Why not stay in one lane?

Nate: I’ve never felt inspired by limitations. Every genre teaches you something different. One week I might be recording a blues solo, the next a neoclassical passage, then programming electronic music or laying down piano. That variety keeps me creative and constantly learning.

Q: You play multiple instruments professionally. Does each one influence the others?

Nate: Absolutely. Playing drums changes how you think about rhythm on guitar. Piano opens up harmony. Bass teaches restraint and groove. Every instrument gives you another perspective, and they all feed into each other when I’m writing or recording.

Q: Your social media has featured a steady stream of Special Edition releases this summer. What’s the goal behind that series?

Nate: It’s been a chance to revisit older material with fresh artwork and a new presentation. Some of these pieces were written years ago, but they still mean something to me. Giving them a second life has been a fun creative project.

Q: What keeps you motivated after all these years?

Nate: Curiosity. I still enjoy sitting down with an instrument and figuring something out that I couldn’t do yesterday. There’s always another style to explore, another technique to improve, or another musical idea worth chasing.

Q: If people could take one thing away from your work, what would you hope it is?

Nate: That you don’t have to put yourself in a creative box. Music is a huge world, and I’ve always believed the best way to grow is to keep exploring it. Every new challenge makes you a better musician.
