During Charli XCX’s Wednesday night (April 30) tour stop in Brooklyn, New York, Clairo demonstrated that the “Apple” does not fall far from the tree.
Attendees of the first of Charli’s four sold-out shows at Barclays Center on the current Brat Arena Tour were captured on camera performing the viral dance to “Apple” with TikTok influencer Blizzy McGuire.
As soon as the video went viral, Charli herself reposted it and tweeted, “I love you, Claireeeeee, I love you, Blizzy!!!!!” The Grammy winner then typed out an archaic heart sign and tagged Clairo and McGuire to punctuate the sentiment.
The two pop stars have been pals for a long time; in fact, Charli asked Clairo to work with her on the song “February 2017” off her 2019 album of the same name. (Yaeji, a DJ and musician from Brooklyn, also performs an outro in Korean during the deep cut.)
In other “Apple”-related news, Roblox was sued in April by Kelley Heyer, the inventor of the well-known TikTok dance, for incorporating the choreography into a new version of their “Dress to Impress” game without her consent.
Last month, Charli brought her Grammy-winning 2024 album to Coachella, where she got into a lighthearted little argument with Green Day about the festival’s main act. Clairo also played at the festival in Indio, California; Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont made an unexpected cameo to open her act. The Charm singer will then join Lucy Dacus and Doechii as the main act at All Things Go New York in September.
