For Raleigh, North Carolina artist Lxnny, making music has always been about figuring things out for himself.
He started playing trombone in third grade and continued through high school before moving into production in 2012. A few years later, after a collaborative beat-tape idea stalled while he waited on other artists to send verses, Lxnny made a simple decision: he would rap on the records himself. That move, in 2014, turned him from a producer into a more complete artist.
That self-sufficient mindset carries into his latest single, “$AME $H*T, DIFFERENT DAY.”
The track pairs glowing, layered samples with a heavier rhythm section, giving it a balance of warmth and grit. Lxnny moves through the production with an easy, controlled delivery, letting the beat breathe while keeping the writing front and center. The hook is direct and memorable without feeling overworked.
“$AME $H*T, DIFFERENT DAY” looks at the repetition behind ambition — working, earning, creating and doing it all again. The second verse gets particularly close to that reality, focusing on the everyday grind required to turn an idea into something sustainable.
The title could potentially sound cynical. Here, it feels more motivational.
For Lxnny, doing the same thing every day isn’t necessarily a sign that nothing is changing. Sometimes it’s proof that you’re still moving toward something.
After years of producing, writing and performing, “$AME $H*T, DIFFERENT DAY” sounds like an artist comfortable with that process — and willing to embrace the work that comes with it.
