Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is once again making headlines, but this time not for his music or business ventures. Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ attorneys urge his release, filing a new motion in court to secure his freedom ahead of his upcoming sentencing scheduled for October 3 in New York.
Legal Team Demands Release from Custody
Combs’ legal team is calling on a federal judge to release the rapper and music mogul from jail, arguing that his incarceration is unjust and inconsistent with how similar cases are typically handled. The 55-year-old was found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution earlier this year, but was acquitted of more severe charges including two counts of sex trafficking and one count of racketeering conspiracy—charges that could have resulted in a life sentence.
Despite being cleared of the most serious allegations, Combs remains in custody, a decision made by Judge Arun Subramanian who cited Combs’ past history of domestic violence. But now, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ attorneys urge his release, stating that the circumstances don’t warrant continued detention.
“There Has Never Been a Case Like This”
In their recent filing, Combs’ lawyers argued that pre-sentencing imprisonment is typically reserved for individuals who run prostitution operations—not for those who are merely clients.
“Sean Combs should not be in jail for this conduct,” the legal team stated. “In fact, he may be the only person currently in a United States jail for being any sort of john.”
The lawyers emphasized that Combs’ involvement was limited to consensual arrangements between adults and that others involved—such as his girlfriends, adult entertainers, and agency operators—have not faced similar incarceration.
“There has literally never been a case like this one,” the filing continued. “Mr. Combs is incarcerated while everyone else involved in this identical conduct… walk free, as they should.”
Willing to Comply with Bail Conditions
Combs’ attorneys further stated that, if released, he would fully comply with strict bail conditions already proposed, including a $50 million (£37 million) bond and limitations on his travel. They assured the court that Combs poses no flight risk and is not a danger to anyone.
Their plea aims to shift the court’s focus toward the broader context of the case, questioning why Combs is being treated differently from others involved in similar situations.
Awaiting the Judge’s Decision
As the October sentencing date approaches, the spotlight remains on whether Judge Subramanian will reconsider his earlier decision to keep Combs in custody. The legal team hopes that the court will acknowledge the unusual nature of this case and grant the music icon temporary freedom until sentencing.
For now, the world watches and waits to see how the court will respond as Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ attorneys urge his release, emphasizing fairness and consistency in the legal process.
