L100T is bringing a deeply personal chapter of his life into his music with “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde,” a new release that has reached No. 9 on the Canadian iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap chart.

The chart placement marks a significant moment for a record that began as a way for L100T to make sense of what he had been experiencing away from music.

The inspiration came during a recent period in which L100T was navigating his mental health. He was initially diagnosed with adjustment disorder, anxiety and depression, but those early diagnoses felt broad compared to what he was experiencing. His symptoms were ultimately connected to PTSD.

As he began understanding those experiences, the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde took on a different meaning.

For L100T, the characters provided a metaphor for the sudden emotional shift that can happen when a trigger appears.

One moment can feel completely normal. The next can bring hypervigilance, anxiety and a feeling of being thrown into survival mode.

That contrast is what L100T wanted to capture.

The concept isn’t meant to equate PTSD with having multiple personalities. Instead, “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” uses two opposing sides to illustrate the difference between L100T feeling grounded and the heightened emotional state that can emerge when something brings a difficult experience back to the surface.

Rather than explaining that transition only through lyrics, he wanted the record itself to reflect it.

That approach also connects to the music that shaped him.

L100T grew up listening to Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G., two artists whose ability to communicate different sides of their lives left an early impression on him. As he got older, Eminem became another influence.

Eminem’s use of Slim Shady was particularly interesting to L100T because it demonstrated how an artist could create a space within their music to express emotions or thoughts they may struggle to communicate otherwise.

L100T took inspiration from that freedom without trying to recreate the character.

Instead, “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” became his own vehicle for exploring a side of himself that might otherwise remain private.

The record was developed alongside Sam at Hybrid Lab, with the creative process focused on making the emotional contrast behind the song feel as important as the concept itself.

That personal approach has now resulted in a chart milestone.

With “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” reaching No. 9 on the Canadian iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap chart, L100T is seeing a song created from an intensely personal experience connect with listeners through music.

The release also provides an early look at where his music is heading next.

“Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” is connected to an upcoming project that will continue the larger story behind the song, allowing L100T to explore more of the experiences and emotions surrounding this period of his life.

For L100T, the record isn’t about presenting himself as someone with two identities. It’s about documenting how complicated it can be to recognize yourself in one moment and then feel your entire emotional state change in another.

Reaching No. 9 on the Canadian iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap chart gives that story a new platform.

But for L100T, the bigger story is what comes after the chart.
