Hollywood, California – The power and legacy of the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll roared back to life in Simply The Best, the acclaimed live tribute to Tina Turner. Following a successful run at Hollywood’s historic Barnsdall Theater, the production earned a NAACP Award nomination for Choreography, cementing its place among the year’s most talked-about independent stage productions.
Produced by sister-brother team Tymeka and Lemo Coney, Simply The Best is more than a concert tribute it’s an emotional journey through Tina Turner’s life, from her beginnings as Anna Mae Bullock to reclaiming her identity and becoming a global icon. Audiences have praised the show for making them feel as though they were reliving Tina’s story in real time.
“It’s not just about the music it’s about honoring Tina’s resilience, triumphs, and lasting impact,” says Executive Producer, Playwright, and Director Tymeka Coney.
The nomination recognizes both the production and the independent creators bringing culturally significant stories to the stage.
